Volunteer Applications are required for all positions unless otherwise noted.

Ripley House Front Desk Volunteer
 
Front Desk Volunteer: The volunteer in this position will welcome and provide information to visitors and clients entering the building for various programs, classes and meetings. Responsibilities include: handling incoming calls, greeting visitors in a friendly and professional manner, providing information on where programs, classes and meetings are being held, location of restrooms, vending machines and other locations, responding to frequently asked questions, and performing clerical tasks as needed. Time commitment: Ongoing; three four-hour shifts (8:00 a. – noon, noon – 4:00 p., 4:00 p. – 8:00 p.) Monday – Friday, and two three-hour shifts (8:00 a. – 11:00 a., 11:00 a. – 2:00 p.) Saturdays. Qualifications needed: ultra friendly person, comfortable with a computer and MS Office applications with strong verbal and communication skills; bi-lingual preferred.
 
Tuesday Food Fair: Sort & Distribute Food

Cleveland Ripley in partnership with the Houston Food Bank is in need of volunteers to sort and distribute food baskets to Neighborhood Centers Inc. families every Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until noon (or completion). Volunteers must arrive at 8:00 a.m. for a volunteer orientation; the project will start promptly at 8:30 a.m.

Qualifications: Must be able to commit to a minimum of four hours of volunteer service (per project). Light lifting may be required.


Sort & Deliver Food

Acres Home Senior Center is in need of volunteers to sort and deliver food baskets to seniors in their homes. Volunteers are needed the 2nd Thursday of each month from 8:00 a.m. until noon (or completion) through the end of November. Volunteers must arrive at 8:00 a.m. for volunteer orientation; the project will start promptly at 8:30 a.m.

Qualifications: Must be able to commit to a minimum of four hours of volunteer service (per project). Light lifting may be required. Volunteers must pass a criminal background check and have a valid Texas Driver’s License to deliver food.
 

Transportation & Food Pick-Up

La Porte Neighborhood Center is in need of volunteers to pick up bread, cakes, vegetables and canned goods at Kroger in La Porte and Kroger in Seabrook and transport them to the La Porte Neighborhood Center. La Porte Neighborhood Center is located 30 miles southeast of downtown Houston.
 
Qualifications: Must be able to commit to at least one day per week to pick-up items at 8 a.m. and deliver to La Porte Neighborhood Center.
